Two co-founders,
one standard

Thirteen years in marketing, 5x founder and AI GTM strategist. An anthropologist by training, she fights for inclusivity and diversity in AI. Builder, keynote and TEDx speaker.

Maja Zavrsnik is a growth marketer, founder and speaker. She grew up in Ljubljana, Slovenia, has lived in five countries, and studied Cultural Studies and Strategic Marketing Communication. For ten years she grew SaaS and hospitality companies across the UK, EMEA and the US, driving 350% growth at Factorial HR on its way to unicorn status. She later helped launch seven EMEA and Middle East markets for Beyond and doubled traffic and leads at Somewhere Crazy.

Three years ago her focus shifted to AI. She worked on an AI therapist that would be accessible to people anytime, anywhere, widening the access of personal support for people. Today she runs SheAI, a United-Nations partners of AI for Good and works directly with companies, organisations and universities to close that gap in practice.

She is also a founder of five ventures, all with social impact, a TEDx speaker, a two-time Mobile World Congress speaker, and has spoken for the AI Collective and Agenda for Change. As a speaker she advocates for diversity in AI, in hiring, promotions, data sets and product development.

Fifteen years in product and operations, the last four spent shipping AI systems inside companies from ten to ten thousand people. Builder, keynote and TEDx speaker.

Sara Kukovec is an engineer, innovator and entrepreneur. She grew up in Slovenia, played basketball at competitive level and studied industrial engineering. For eighteen years she built infrastructure, with project responsibility of more than 400 million euros. She later served as managing director of eight mid-sized companies belonging to a family investment holding, developing several business models within them.

She then founded her first own company, Builders & Co. She thinks in systems and acts for the long term. She selects her projects by where solutions have the greatest leverage, socially and planetarily. Today she rebuilds established organisations around AI, develops new business areas and supports the founding and growth of new companies.

She is also a shareholder in further ventures, editor of five specialist books and co-author of others, a TEDx speaker and active on several boards. As a mentor she advocates for female entrepreneurship.

Closing the gender gap in AI through education and innovation

Zorya AI is an entrepreneurial network for women already running companies: technologically skilled, AI-native, building the next generation of businesses, transforming their business models from the inside.

The technology defining the next decade is being designed, funded and deployed in rooms where women are still a minority, and that gap doesn't close with awareness campaigns. It closes when the women already running companies have the fluency to build with AI themselves, and the standing to argue about it.

So we built the room we couldn't find: small enough that everyone speaks, senior enough that nobody has to explain themselves, practical enough that you leave with a system running in your business, not notes about one.

Both of us are Slovenian. We've built our lives in other European countries, Maja in Spain and Sara in Germany, but we're building this one at home. Women hold 22% of AI roles globally, 15% at executive level, and Slovenia doesn't have a single AI community built for women. We're building the first one.

The work itself stays international. Cohorts are cross-border by design, open to founders from anywhere: the questions just happen to come from markets that regulate, fund and adopt AI at very different speeds.

We choose who joins, deliberately: values fit matters as much as readiness. A seat here isn't something you can buy.

Zorya AI sits alongside our other brands, SheAI, Innervoices, Builders and Lingocare, which fund and feed it. Same mission across all four: put the tools in the hands of people who were handed a chatbot instead of a seat at the table.

Mission Europe

Our commitment to the women shaping Europe's AI.

This is our manifesto, the place we point to when someone asks what Zorya AI is for. It paints a picture of why we exist, how we work, where we are going, and the accountability we hold ourselves to.

We wrote it for the ambitious women who build, create value, and lead mindfully, for the partners and funders who back this work, for the people who decide how Europe governs AI, and for everyone working to make Europe stronger in it.

Europe has set itself a bold ambition. It intends to become a leading AI continent, to move from writing the world's most comprehensive rules to putting the technology to work across its industries, and to grow its digital workforce from 9 million to 20 million professionals by the end of this decade.

The foundations are here. Compute capacity is being built across the Union, with regional access points for everyone who works with borrowed infrastructure.

Europe's gender equality strategy treats artificial intelligence as a field of its own for the first time. An action plan aims to make Europe the most attractive place in the world for women in research, innovation, and enterprise by 2030.

Yet today, women hold roughly one in five AI roles worldwide and about one in six of the senior ones. Europe finds its eleven million additional professionals by opening the path for the women who are already here.

We believe that there's abundant talent in Europe; what it needs are systems that carry that talent upward, and a way of working as one continent on a question that twenty seven countries are each answering alone.

22% AI roles worldwide are held by women, and 13% of the senior ones.

27 countries currently answer the same question separately.

Zorya AI is the place for women shaping Europe's AI. For founders, for women in leadership, for researchers, and for those deciding how AI is put to work.

Our rooms stay open across that whole range: across countries large and small, across sectors and generations, and across the many different paths that lead a woman to the point where she decides about technology.

It is about belonging among women who find someone at eye level here. And it is about craft: programmes, support through the actual build, honest exchange, and a home base in every country we enter.

We built the room we searched for. Small enough that everyone speaks. Experienced enough that every woman arrives already understood. Practical enough that each one leaves with something running.

The room is for women. The work it does is for Europe.

Strengthen

Women who lead today are Europe's early adopters. They bring the conviction, and we add the capacity to execute. Their decisions take effect immediately, in real companies, real budgets and real teams. We enable them first because they are the first who can pass it on.

Multiply

Each of them carries this into her team, her company and her country, and that transmission is what reaches scale. In every country we build our own team that leads the work on the ground, in the local language and in the local setting. We open our programmes, formats and tools to the independent women's, technology and founder initiatives across Europe, so that each of them becomes stronger at home.

Anchor

From the network comes infrastructure, which is the thing that lasts: shared programmes, open resources, reliable data, and a voice where decisions are made. Infrastructure is what reaches the whole of Europe, and reaches it for a long time.

That AI capability reaches the women who are still outside it today, whatever their background, education or means. And that it comes to sit inside Europe's education and training systems.

European law now expects the people who deploy AI to understand what they deploy. That turns capability into an obligation, and it makes this the moment when serious training reaches women.

We work in the languages of the places we enter, because a European network earns that name by speaking many. And we intend that talent beyond Europe finds a way here, through circular mobility and partnerships that build capacity in both directions.

The same capability serves as protection. Systems trained on the past repeat it, and women meet that reality in hiring, in credit, in health, and in the rising volume of synthetic images and online abuse aimed at them. Women who understand these systems can name what they see, challenge it with evidence, and build differently. We treat that as part of the craft.

We carry ourselves through what we deliver. Membership and programmes fund this place. That is the precondition for our position, because a house that stands on its own stays free to speak.

We are open about the sequence this creates: those who invest in programmes make possible the open resources, partnerships and access that reach everyone else. We prefer to state that plainly.

Europe has strong initiatives for women in technology. What comes next is a shared, independent institution that speaks for the women who decide about AI.

We are forming an independent advisory board and a strategic council. Both will be appointed against published criteria, for a fixed term, and answerable to their own mandate alone. They bring together women from different countries, sectors and generations: founders, researchers, lawyers, policy makers and leaders from industry. Their task is to advise national and European policy, to publish what they find, and to make the case with evidence.

We will build them at the moment we can build them in full independence, and we will take the time that requires, because an institution that arrives free serves everyone, and serves for a long time.

Until then we earn that right. We take part in the European processes already underway, we support the commitments Europe has made to women in its digital economy, and we bring what we learn in our own rooms to the people writing the next set of rules.
